The police recovered an minor girl from Bughipura Chowk here on Saturday within 48 hours of her abduction. Arjun, a man from Bihar, was reported to have kidnapped her on Thursday night. The police have also recovered the kidnapper's getaway motorcycle. The police acted on a secret
input about Arjun's attempts to leave the district. "I led a police party to Bughipura Chowk and tracked the place where the girl was locked up," said Deepak Singh, station house officer of Chrik police station. "The suspect had escaped."

On Thursday itself, the south city police had lodged a case against Arjun. The police had laid barricades all over the district, said senior superintendent of police Surjit Singh Grewal. "I have constituted a special investigation team to catch Arjun," he said. "We will catch him in another 48 hours."

After the girl's medical examination, the police restored her to her parents. If the test report reveals rape, relevant charges will be added to the first-information report.
