In a case of honour killing, a 26-year-old girl has been allegedly murdered by her mother and brother at Maur Khurad village of this district.

The incident came to the light when on late Thursday evening police found half burnt body of the girl from the local cremation ground.

According to the details, the victim, Harjinder Kaur, had eloped with Jagsir Singh of the same village against the wishes of their families in the month of June earlier this year. Both, however, failed to live together for long as family of the girl located them hiding in Rajasthan and brought the girl back.

The police has booked mother Gurmeet Kaur, brother Kulwinder Singh, brother-in-law Satpal Singh and Mangu Singh and eight other persons at the Maur police station on the compliant of her lover Jagsir Singh. No arrest has been made so far.
