Advocates in Punjab will soon get social security cover and other benefits, said RS Badhran, chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, here on Monday.
Addressing advocates at a function organised by the Bar Association of Bathinda, Badhran said the council was working on Punjab Advocates' Welfare Fund Act and facilities such as pension and financial help in case of emergencies would be a reality once the Act came in force.
He said the bar council was planning to help newcomers settle in the profession by providing them financial assistance for at least two years.
Badhra also redressed grievances of Ravi Kumar, father of Yogesh Kumar, who had drowned in a Muktsar canal in January this year. He assured him of getting adequate compensation for the family.
Anmol Rattan Sidhu, president of the Bar Association of Punjab and Haryana high court, said members of the association would work hard to redress advocates' issues.
