Moga woman alleges rape

A 22-year-old woman here alleged that she was raped by a youth today, who took her to a hotel on the pretext of discussing their marriage plan but sexually assaulted her.

In her FIR, the woman alleged that the 25-year-old youth, who promised to marry her, asked her to meet at Moga Barnala road on the outskirts of the city yesterday, police said.

When she reached there, the youth asked the woman to come with him to a hotel for discussion.

However upon reaching there, he assaulted her sexually, police said, adding that a case of rape was registered against the youth and he has been arrested.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restrain the Congress government in Maharashtra from going ahead with its decision to "arbitrarily reduce" the representation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in the Takht Sri Hazur Sahib Board from the existing four to one besides denying the membership to the Chief Khalsa Diwan, which was earlier represented on the board.
