One passenger was killed and 15 injured after a private bus overturned near Ambuja Cements on the Bathinda-Abohar road here on Monday.
The bus was on way from Bathinda to Malout when, on the outskirts of the city, the steering wheel came apart and the driver lost control over the
vehicle. Around 80 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of mishap. While one passenger died in the civil hospital, the condition of three was stated to be critical.

Volunteers of Naujawan Welfare Association and locals immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. They took the injured to the civil hospital.

The station house officer of the thermal plant police station said 15 people have been injured in the accident and they are being treated in the Bathinda civil hospital. The bus has been impounded and a case will be registered after recording the statements of the injured passengers.

“The mishap occurred when the steering wheel of the bus came apart after which the driver lost his control over the vehicle,” the SHO added.
