Poor man killed for defecating in field

For the fault of excreting in the field of a farmer, a poor man lost his life.
On Friday morning, Kulwinder Singh, 26, had gone out as usual to answer the call of nature call in the field at Bhoepur village in Dharamkot police jurisdiction of this district. Livid on catching him in
the act, Joginder Singh, whose farm it was, and members of his family allegedly smashed Kulwinder's head with wooden sticks. The police have recorded four people of a family, including a woman, as suspects.

Kulwinder's brother, Jaspal Singh, reported the crime to the police, Avtar Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Dharamkot, has confirmed. "We had gone to the fields for our morning routine," Jaspal Singh stated in the police complaint. "We were easing ourselves when farmer Joginder Singh; his wife, and other relatives came over there and attacked my brother with wooden sticks, killing him on the spot."

Deputy superintendent of police Sukhdev Singh Brar inspected the crime scene and recorder the statements of the eyewitness. Kulwinder's family claimed his body after autopsy. The police have registered a case against Joginder Singh; his wife, Paro; and sons, Kulwant Singha and Gurmeet Singh; all of Bhoepur under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Panel Code (IPC) at Dharamkot. A hunt is on for the suspects. The victim was Dalit.
