Ongoing speculations over the leadership issue of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee(PPCC) is likely to end within two to three days.
Majority of the Punjab Congress leadership had been called up by party high command at New Delhi for the past two to three days.
Rahul Gandhi had
personally met present chief PPCC Capt Amarinder Singh, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar besides some sitting or former MLAs.
The party high command was of the view that party lost last assembly polls due to infighting, and to avoid the same dismal performance in 2014 MP polls, a consensus was being tried on the leadership issue in Punjab.
Even though change of leadership had not been ruled out so far another option being considered includes appointment of an acting president or a four-member co-ordination commuter to keep all the party flocks together, disclosed one of the senior leader who was among those who had a closed door meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
Sources claim that a final decision to this regard would be taken in next seventy two hours.
Sources also said that Rahul had given an ear to their suggestions for strengthening the party, while special instructions were conveyed to leaders to scrutinise day-to-day working of SAD-BJP government on a regular basis.
The corrupt SAD-BJP leaders should be taken to task because BJP shares power only in Punjab, except Himachal Pradesh in this region, so that proper propaganda is made to highlight their malpractice while in regime, in upcoming MP poll campaign, the sources added.
