Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has assured all help to develop a railway link between Ferozepur and Amritsar via Tarn Taran.
Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar informed this in a press release issued here on Sunday.
He had taken up the issue with Rahul Gandhi, who assured all help,
said Jakhar.
This would not only serve to connect people of Malwa with Majha but also natives of Rajasthan and Gujarat to the holy city of Amritsar.
Moreover, from national security point of view, it would beef up security logistics of armed forces in the northwest.
It would also facilitate an opportunity for the tourists often visiting Amritsar from far-flung areas to see historical places at Ferozepur like the Anglo-India Sikh War Memorial, memorial of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussainiwala, and Saragarhi memorial besides others, suggested Jakhar.
Jakhar met railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, on Saturday. He also submitted a letter to him.
In the interest of national security, to promote religious tourism and development of Malwa, he requested to link Ferozepur to Amritsar via Tarn Taran and Patti railway link in the forthcoming railway budget.
