Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday recalled Zora Singh Bhagike, departed former legislator of his party, as a grass-roots worker who had contributed a lot in strengthening the base of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
On Friday evening, the CM reached Bhagike village and the
party would stand by the leader's bereaved family. Former legislator Bhagike, 90, had died of prolonged illness.
"Bhagike was a votary of the downtrodden and oppressed," said Badal. "The two-time former member of the legislative assembly (MLA) had worked tirelessly to strengthen the party at the grass-roots level."
Rajwinder Kaur Bhagike, daughter-in-law of the departed leader, is SAD MLA from Nihal Singh Wala at the moment.
