Parminder were going to appear for a case hearing at Panchkula district courts, while Himanshu and Laddi were going to Manimajra for getting the vehicle repaired.
They got stalled in a traffic snarl near hotel Raunak in Pinjore. Two vehicles approached the Innova and got stationed on either side, while another vehicle blocked it from behind.
Allegedly, one of the attackers fired twice in air, and then about 10 to 15 men pulled out the occupants of Innova and beat them up mercilessly with iron rods, wooden sticks, swords and kirpans.
When Parminder tried to flee, he was allegedly shot point blank. The Innova was also badly damaged.
Meanwhile, bystanders intervened and pelted stones at the miscreants, forcing them to take to flight.
The four injured were brought to the general hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, after being referred from Pinjore.
In the hospital, doctors declared Parminder serious, while Chaudhary, Himanshu and Laddi were declared out of danger.
"Parminder runs taxis, Chaudhary is a farmer, Himanshu studies in college while Laddi is into insurance business," informed Bawa Ramandeep Singh, a family friend of one of the injured.
Though, the injured were not in a position to talk, Bawa alleged that the attackers included Pinky, Aman, Gurmel, Amit, Kishan, Titi, Kishori and Shishu. He also accused the police to have arrived late; the incident had taken place around 10am, but the police did not reach till 5am to record the statement of the victims.
Pinky, a resident of Majra village, is the son of a Kalka BJP leader Suchaa Singh Majra.
Alleged reason for the clash
Few months ago, Chaudhary and Parminder had appeared as witnesses in a case of group-clash at the Kalka cricket ground. It led to the conviction of 10 residents of Kalka and Pnjore for five years each for attempt to murder. In this clash, which had taken place on March 5, 2009, Chaudhary had been badly beaten, along with Mukul Sharma, Jaswinder and Amandeep. All the four had to be admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Bawa alleged that today's clash was to avenge the conviction.
Station house officer (SHO) of Pinjore Inspector Raj Kumar said, "We have registered a case of attempt to murder on the statement of Parikshit Chaudhary. He has mentioned the name of Pinky, son of Suchaa Singh. As per his statement, the shell of a bullet had hit his thigh."
