As many as 11 fresh suspected swine flu patients reported in different government hospitals of Chandigarh on Friday, taking the total number of persons with symptoms of the disease to around 90. Disclosing this in Chandigarh today, the Swine flu nodal officer HC Gera said that of the
total cases seven have been so far found positive and are undergoing treatment at the hospitals here.

While the medical report of around 43 patients is awaited, the rest of the persons, who came to various hospitals with symptoms similar to flu were found negative.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh administration conducted raids on private laboratories to verify if they were testing samples for the virus or procuring kits for the purpose, officials said adding that two private hospitals had been directed to devise an action plan for epidemic preparedness.

The lab to test H1N1 samples at Post Graduate Institute for Medical Science and Research in Chandigarh will start functioning from the next week, hospital sources said.
