2 tempos impounded for carrying biomedical waste illegally

Police arrested tempo driver Paramjeet Singh alias Banti for transferring biomedical waste illegally to another unauthorised vehicle, from the premises of Cosmo Hospital here on Friday.


The police have also impounded both the vehicles.

On a tip-off, a team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) arrived on the hospital premises and later got registered a complaint in this regard at the Phase-8 police station, who then swung into action.

The police assured legal action against defaulters as per law.

Joginder Singh, executive engineer, PPCB, Nodal Office, SAS Nagar, said, “In SAS Nagar district, we have only one biomedical waste-treatment facility at Balyali village in Kharar in the name of Rainbow Environments Private limited. We caught a tempo for carrying illegal activities.”

Body of man missing for eight days found
