Badal okays board for teachers' recruitment

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has decided to establish a teachers' recruitment board for the selection of teachers in model, Adarsh and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) schools.


This decision was taken by the chief minister at a meeting with senior officers of the school education department here on Wednesday.

The board would be headed by the principal secretary, school education. The vice-chancellors of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Punjabi University, Patiala, director general, school education, and the chairperson of the Punjab School Education Board would be its members. The director, public instruction (DPI, schools), would be the convener.

The CM said the board must complete the entire recruitment process in model, Adarsh and RMSA schools by September, adding that till then, alternative arrangements must be made for providing education to students.

Badal said model schools for students of rural areas securing 80% or above marks in matriculation from government schools would be established in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and SAS Nagar.
