The Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal (SAD-B) on Friday lodged a complaint to the directorate of gurdwara elections (DGE) that the incumbent Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president, Paramjit Singh Sarna distributed money to different gurdwara bodies during the campaign.

The SAD in its complaint also urged the DGE to immediately seize all the records of the DSGMC and take strict action against Sarna and other office-bearers of the committee, describing the act as a serious violation of the election code.

The other charges leveled in the SAD complaint included "several appointments of teachers done after the date of notification for election, and throwing merit and all other norms to the wind (in the recruitment process)".

SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said in the complaint, "Cheque number 034531 dated January 14, 2013, worth Rs. 25,000, and another cheque number 034535, dated January 14, 2013, for Rs. 21,000, were issued to Gurdwara Molar Band, Badarpur. Another cheque of Rs. 21,000 was given to a gurdwara in Sorab Vihar."

On some cheques that were given after the date of notification, dates were changed to circumvent the election code, Cheema said.
