A public meeting was organised at Bittu's office here and Rawat was invited to address it. The meeting was not in the schedule of Rawat's visit and was arranged at the last minute.

Bittu raised the problems of the BBMB employees and residents of Nangal with the minister and sought his intervention for the solution of these problems.

Delegations of INTUC, Youth Congress and local residents also met Rawat with regard to their problems.

Rawat said he would redress the grievances of Nangal residents and the BBMB employees, adding that anybody could come to him in New Delhi regarding their problems.

Rawat asked the Congress workers to prepare themselves to meet the political challenges ahead.
He claimed that the country was making rapid strides in every field despite the global economic slowdown.
