Members of the Chandigarh Industrial Association (CIA) met railway minister and local member of parliament Pawan Kumar Bansal to discuss the proposed move of the UT administration to ban the transfer of leasehold industrial plots.
The association claimed that Bansal assured the
industrialists of city that he would look into their problem.

Also, a delegation of local industrialists would meet UT advisor KK Sharma in this regard shortly.

The association's general secretary Chander Verma expressed hope that the industrialists would be able to transfer their leasehold industrial property with the support of Bansal.

The issue was discussed at a February 1 meeting of top UT officials with administrator Shivraj Patil. According to sources, Patil was of the view that the plots were allotted for setting up business enterprises and not for selling them further.

The administration and the city-based industrialists have been at loggerheads over the issue.
