A day after the senior private secretary to Himachal Pradesh (HP) forest minister Prem Chand Yamba alleged that Rs. 1.57 lakh was stolen from his briefcase at the Chandigarh airport, the police have asked the minister to come down to the city to join investigation.
The senior private
secretary in a complaint through e-mail had claimed that the lock of Yamba's briefcase was broken before the cash was taken out at the Chandigarh airport on February 25.

Yamba was going to Chennai via Mumbai from Chandigarh.

Police sources said they had asked the minister to come to Chandigarh airport and go through the CCTV footage as only he could identify the luggage.

The police sources added that the minister had gone to Mumbai from Chandigarh and then boarded a flight to Chennai from Mumbai.

The police have already gone through the CCTV footage but nothing was found which indicates no theft from the bag.

The officials added the bag could have gone missing from any airport.
