A local court on Saturday remanded Punjab Police head constable Dalbir Singh, arrested on graft charge, to two-day police custody.
Dalbir, posted as naib reader at the office of DSP (headquarters) HS Riar in SAS Nagar, was arrested by the vigilance bureau on charge of taking a bribe
of Rs. 50,000 on Friday.

The vigilance bureau is investigating how many more persons were involved or whether this amount was to be shared with other officials or was meant only for Dalbir Singh. The vigilance sleuths are also investigating the number of cases in which he had taken bribes.

On the other hand, the accused claimed that he had been falsely implicated in a false case. He denied having demanded or accepted bribe from complainant Amanbir Singh, working as a senior manager in a multinational company in Gurgaon, in a marital dispute case.
