To ensure uninterrupted power supply and to meet its future requirements, the UT electricity department installed a 30 MVA power transformer in Chandigarh on Friday. Last year overloading of the existing transformers was observed to be more than 95% and rational power cuts had to be
imposed to save power transformers from damage.

With the inauguration of 30 MVA Power Transformer by UT finance secretary VK Singh, the overloading at 66 KV Grid sub-station in Sector 52 and 33 KV Grid sub-station in Sector 34 will be reduced thereby providing better electricity supply to southern sectors including Sector-43, 44, 51, 52, 53, 61 among others.
