The painter, however, is showcasing works in water colour only at his maiden solo exhibition in city at the IFM Art Portfolio gallery in Sector 9.
A graduate from Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta University (Kolkata), Ananta has 11 international awards in his kitty along with several national and regional awards.
The talented artist, who is visiting the city for the first time, has displayed his artworks in the US, Dubai, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Now based in Mumbai, Ananta, since his college days, has had a highly individual style, which is deeply contemporary in its sensibility.
Here, the artist has displayed 20 unique exhibits where he has brilliantly captured some of the fluid moments of cities such as Rajasthan, Srinagar, Mumbai and Kolkata.
He has blended lines and hues to catch the rhythm of different cities’ life in a transparent treatment while translating them into artwork.
“I have been capturing various facets of rain-soaked cities, seascapes as well as landscapes since college days. I also love to paint steam engines as there is a lot of scope for an artist in it,” says Ananta whose youthful exuberance and wide-eyed optimism reflects in his painting.
His watery strokes come from many things — the hustle and bustle of city, lush forest, tropical beaches and the many moods of nature.
His artworks are certainly a feast to eyes of art lovers.
The exhibition is on till December 26, from 11am to 6pm.
