It was a foggy Christmas day in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, disrupting road, train and air traffic in the entire region.
Met officials on Tuesday reported that the fog which set in overnight had engulfed Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala districts in Punjab and Hisar,
Bhiwani, Ambala, Karnal and other places in Haryana.

Motorists were forced to drive slow on highways in both states with visibility reduced considerably. At some places, the visibility was less than 100 metres.

Railway traffic was also hit. Most trains were delayed. Flights to and from Chandigarh were affected for the third day Tuesday.

"Connectivity from Chandigarh is very poor these days," businessman Gurpratap Singh said.  Narnaul town in Haryana recorded a low of three degrees Tuesday morning. At other places, the minimum temperatures ranged from 3.4 to six degrees.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of six degrees.  Met officials said the weather would largely be dry and cold in the next 48 hours, with dense fog likely in many parts.
