Dense fog that engulfed the region on Sunday morning affected the air and rail connectivity from Chandigarh, so much so that no flight operated from Chandigarh airport.
The poor visibility due to a dense blanket of fog grounded all morning flights. As per the officials at the
airport, the visibility in the morning was zero. It did improve to 800 metre by afternoon but went down to 500 metre later. Owing to poor visibility, no flight operated till 3 pm from the Chandigarh airport.
Though rail services were also affected by fog and several were running behind schedule, they still fared better as compared to the flight operations.
Shatabdi Express chugged in one hour late than its scheduled time. The Howrah-Kalka express arrived at Chandigarh at 1 pm instead of its scheduled time of 3.15 am and Sadbhavna Express was running three hours behind the schedule.
