Four girl students of Bhiwani Adarsh Mahila Mahavidayalaya were on Friday fined by the college management for wearing jeans and t-shirt in the college campus. The college authorities imposed a fine of Rs. 100 each on four girls after college principal found them wearing jeans and t-shirt
during a surprise check.

Sources said that the girls raised objection when they were fined but they bowed down when the college principal warned them of severe repercussions.
When HT contacted the principal, Alka Sharma, she said, "We have a dress code in our college for students as well as for staff members and we religiously follow it".
She said that girl students must wear white salwar kurta on Mondays and other color salwar kurta on other days.

She said that even female staff members have been asked to wear saris while male members have to wear formal pants and shirts.
When HT enquired about the any such guidelines by higher education authorities or government agencies, she said that nothing of this sort has been in her notice. She said "Though we allow girls to wear jeans but it should be worn with long kurta, not with t-shirts or tops".

It may be noted that few months ago, some girls students were barred from entering the college for violating the dress code which created unrest among the students with students coming out on road to protest the same.
