A grandson brings rare stamps, maps and lithographs collected by his grandfather, for the city to view. HT Photo
‘History is to be shared and not owned; it depends on who is able to recognise and cherish it,” is what Siddarth Bajaj’s late grandfather, Col Surendra Bakshi told him. Siddarth kept that in his mind and translated the same into action through the exhibition of a rare and exclusive set of
lithographs, stamps and maps that were collected by his grandfather during his travels around the world.

Siddarth, 21, who is based in Ranchi, shares, “It’s a collection spanning over three decades; a treasure collected over a lifetime by a world traveller. All through my childhood, I have seen him sitting on a table with his spectacles on, looking at these stamps. He taught me whatever is rare and recounted all the stories behind his entire collection. Through this exhibition, I have tried to showcase something that might probably get lost in today’s world. It’s a rare opportunity to take home a bit of history to learn from, like I did.”

Before coming to Chandigarh, Siddarth put up the exhibition in Delhi and Ranchi. Since he is also selling some of the items, he informs that the items on sale range from  R100 to R2,500.
