Taking note of a letter claiming that on most occasions, the authorities of Bhondsi jail in Gurgaon don't provide policemen for taking prisoners to hospitals, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Saturday issued a notice of motion to the Haryana government.
The letter, written by
Deepak Gupta, additional district and sessions judge-cum-member secretary of Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA), came up for hearing before a division bench headed by justice Jasbir Singh on Saturday.

It was informed that HSLSA executive chairman Justice SK Mittal, during his inspection of Bhondsi jail on November 10, was informed by the jail superintendent that between September 1 and October 15, several inmates, despite a reference from the jail doctor, could not be taken to hospitals for medical examinations due to lack of police guards. It was informed that out of 176 times, police guards were not provided for inmates.
