Ludhiana firm booked for evading excise duty

Acting on the complaint of SAS Nagar excise and taxation officer Sukhdeep Singh, Balongi police of Kharar block on Saturday registered a case against Ludhiana-based company MS Krishna, which deals in scrap, for allegedly committing a fraud of over Rs. 23 crore by evading excise duty at Balongi, Moonak, Ghanauli and Zirakpur barriers.


In his complaint, Singh alleged that the company had made fake entries at the fake entries at the barriers and committed a fraud of Rs. 23.46 crore.

Balongi station house officer (SHO) Kulbir Singh said a case had been registered against the company and investigations were on.

"We are also investigating the role of toll tax barrier employees at all these places and how they succeeded in making fake entries at the tax barriers. Most of these entries were made from January this year to May," he said.
