Pash's father passes away in California

Sohan Singh Sandhu, father of Naxalite Punjab poet Pash passed away on Wednesday night in California, US. He was 85.Sandhu moved to California more than three decades back after getting retired from Indian Army.  He served as a major in the army.

A few years back, Sandhu compiled a book comprising write ups about Pash. Reacting to his death, Dr Chaman Lal, former professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi said, "I was fortunate to spend time with him during my San Francisco visit in May 2011. He became an example by his ideal life in last few decades, particularly after Pash's death."

He relived some of Pash's life in same spirit, same commitment and the same passion till his last days.

Pash's real name was Avtar Singh Sandhu, he was killed at the age of 38 by Khalistani terrorists on March 23, 1988 is his native village Talwandi Salem, Jalandhar. In his late teens he got influenced by the Naxalite movement in Punjab and became a celebrated poet, when he was in his 20s.
