A pregnant woman was allegedly beaten up by her in-laws after family dispute turned into domestic violence in Satnampura locality, Phagwara.
Preeti, daughter of Nashatar Singh of Bhattian village police station Phillaur, was allegedly beaten up by her-in-laws and her foetus was
aborted after the torture.

When contacted Phagwara Superintendent of Police H P S Khakh told that on the complaint of Preeti, the police has booked her husband Hardip Lal, his sister Lovely and Mother Harpal Kaur under sections 316/323/34 of IPC on the charges of physically torturing young Preeti which became the cause of her  miscarriage.

Preeti, in her complaint lodged before the police, has said that she was married to Hardip Lal of Phagwara on July 5 last year, but was being tortured physically and mentally by her-in-laws.

She alleged that her husband along-with his mother and sister beat her up mercilessly and was saved by her neighbours, who also informed her mother Asha Rani who rushed to Phagwara and took her to Phillaur Civil Hospital on October 15 where she aborted her foetus on October 17, which was confirmed by the concerned lab of Amritsar.

No arrest has been in the case made so for.
