Punjab procures over 133 LT of paddy

Punjab farmers are richer by Rs. 16,028 crore as the state has procured more than 133 lakh tonnes of paddy till Saturday evening, a spokesman said.
Of the total procurement, government agencies have procured 127 lakh tonnes while private traders procured the rest.
In Sangrur
district, Rs. 1,968.28 crore has been deposited in farmers' accounts, according to the spokesman. In Ludhiana, payment of Rs. 1,930.37 crore was claimed to have been made, while Patiala was third in payment with Rs. 1,547.19 crore.
