The Punjab government has issued instructions to complete the survey on out-of-school-youth between 6 and 14 years of age till December 22.
Stating this here on Thursday, education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said that the objective behind the survey,which would commence on December
12, was to provide basic education to all the out-of-school-youth in the state.
He said that it was the mandate of the Punjab Government to provide free and compulsory education to all the children up to class-VIII.
During the survey, the teams of Education department would go in all the distant and de-marginalised areas like brick-kilns, railway stations, slums and the inhabitations
of migrant labourers.
The minister said that the information thus collected through the survey would be incorporated in the annual report of the year 2012-13 of the state government.
