Two bombs recovered from drain

Two unexploded bombs were recovered from a drain passing through the Bazigar Colony in Ambala Cantonment early in the morning on Thursday. Two municipal corporation safai karamcharies Suraj and Sonu were cleaning the drain when they struck some metallic substance. Further digging led them
to recovery of the two bombs which were brought out of the drain and police was informed about the explosives who reached the spot immediately.

DCP Ashok Kumar with the Bomb Diffusal Squad headed by inspector Raghubir Singh rushed to the spot. A dog squad was also pressed there for investigation.

After preliminary investigation, DCP Kumar said that the length of one bomb was 1 feet while the other was 10-11 inches long.

He said that these bombs were of UXO types (unexploded ordnance) which were used by the army and Air Force during their operations.

He said that the army authorities were being consulted with regard to the nature of the bombs.
Earlier, exploded and unexploded bombs were recovered from a drain in Ambala Cantonment and Naraingarh police training centre.
