Two passengers suffered minor injuries after the stranded Nangal-Ambala train experienced a huge jolt as its engine was being replaced near the Ram Darbar bridge in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening. A part of the train got damaged in the incident.
The incident took place when the train
was on the way to Ambala from Nangal Dam. The engine developed a snag near Hallomajra following a power failure.
"The train received a jolt while attaching another engine due to which two passengers suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the Sector-32 hospital," said Rajesh Kumari, SHO of the GRP at the Chandigarh railway station.

The schedule of no other train was affected due to the incident. Around 150 passengers were left stranded.

"We were coming after attending a marriage. We got scared when we felt the jerk as we thought that the train would fall down the bridge. We were left without any help from the railway officials. Now, we have to go to the bus stand to travel back home," said Ashok Upadhaya, a resident of Ambala.

"No help was provided to the senior citizens also. We were stuck in the middle. There are no means by which we can reach our destination. The railway officials should have at least provided help to senior citizens," said Savita Kumari, a passenger.
To help the passengers from any type of casualty, an ambulance, police team and a fire brigade rushed to the spot.

"We got the information about the incident around 7.45pm. We were not sure about any causality. Therefore, to manage and help the people, we asked ambulance, fire brigade and a team of the police personnel to reach the spot.
