Speaking at a press conference, deputy superintendent of police (city) Satish Malhotra said that 26-years-old
accused Kulveer Singh had abducted the girl outside Garh Padhana village on Monday around 4.30 pm.

He said the accused took the girl to many places including Balachaur, Rahon and a religious shrine Naina Devi which the police was closely monitoring through his mobile phone range.

He said that, the police arrested him from Usmanpur village around 9 pm on Wednesday, within 24-hours after registration of the case on January 1.

Investigations revealed that the accused, since past few months, had been repeatedly calling the girl on her mobile number, he said.

Rape charges were framed against the accused after medical examination of the minor confirmed the same, he added.

The girl was handed over to her family members after recording her statement in a court.

Police have registered a case under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 366 A (procreation of minor girl) against unknown persons on January 1 on the complaint of girl's father Jarnail Singh.
