Election commission Punjab has rescheduled the voter list publication scheudule and have extended the date of final publication of voter lists for panchayat samitis, Zila Parishads and gram panchayat polls by 15 days.
Elections for Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis had been
scheduled for May 15 while gram panchayats would go for poll on May 31 in state.
“Earlier, the lists, taking January 1, 2013 as qualifying date, was scheduled to be printed till March 20 but now, the same has been extended by 15 days. Now, final lists would be published on April 4, 2013 as per the directions received from state election commissioner,” said deputy commissioner Alaknanda Dayal.
“The delimitation of villages had been completed by January 31. Preparation of voter lists according to new delimitations would be completed by March 10 and initial voter list would be published on March 11. For amendments and removal of discrepancies, the applications would be invited till March 18, 2013 and by March 31, these issues would be resolved before publication of final voter list,” she added.
