Anger is brewing among the employees who are awaiting their salaries and other incentives for months.
Various employee organisations have planned to finalise their course of action in a meeting in Ludhiana on September 7.
Punjab Subordinate Services Federation (PSSF) state president, Satish Rana, said lakhs of employees were facing big financial crisis, the contractual Hindi teachers were not being paid for the last 18 months. "The finance minister has asked the employees to either avail DA instalment or get arrears. No employee is reposniosble for the poor economy of the state. This is not for the first time that their salaries are delayed but this time the wait seems unending," said Rana.
He alleged that the government had also failed to implement pay commission's recommendations or fill up vacant posts. "Instead of rising perks, the government was curtailing down its expenditure on employees. Thousands of contract workers were awaiting permanent job but they have also been left in the lurch," added Rana, claiming that employee organisations would converge in Ludhiana to chalk out the line of action against the government.
