Jalandhar deputy commissioner Shruti Singh has directed all tehsildars and naib tehsildars to ensure security of biometric thumb importation device installed at fard centres. In a communication, she said that the bio-metric thumb impression devices have been installed at these
centres and users concerned such as patwaris, kanugos, circle revenue officers and assistant system managers would be the ones issued passwords through the bio-metric thumb importation device.
She has also directed all sub-registrars and joint sub-registrars to ensure that the software is not utilised by unauthorised persons. The communication added that this could be very dangerous for the department's work. She has also demanded an action-taken report and said that any unauthorised use of the software would invite punitive actions for the assistant system manger and the circle revenue officer would be held accountable.
