Around 11 activists of Hindu Jagriti Manch were detained when they gheraoed the Delhi-Lahore bus here on Saturday in protest against demolition of a temple in Karachi last week. The activists asked the Pakistan government to protect the Hindu shrines.
Manch's state president Mandeep
Bakshi said that it was unfortunate that Indian government had failed to take up the issue with the Pakistan government. "If the UPA government doesn't not raise the issue with Pakistan immediately, the Manch will hold statewide agitations," Bakshi said.
Earlier, the protesters marched from Ambedkar chowk up to PAP chowk, where they burnt the flag of Pakistan and gheraoed the Delhi-Lahore bus.

A century-old Hindu temple in Karachi was reportedly demolished last week by a builder, despite a court's stay.

Meanwhile, as per reports from Nakodar, the Delhi-Lahore bus was diverted via Nakodar-Phillaur-Nurmahal route due to threats issued by Phagwara unit of Shiv Sena. The buses to and from Lahore usually cross each other at Phagwara around 1 pm daily.
