Nine months on, no clues in 15-year-old's gangrape

None months after a 15-year-old girl was raped at Udhanwal village, allegedly by her neighbour Harmesh Lal and four unknown persons, no arrest have been made.

According to the FIR, a copy is with HT, the girl complained that on May 7, 2012, the accused Harmesh Lal entered her house and abducted her and bundled her in car and took her to New Delhi.

She added that they confined her in a desolate room, where she was repeatedly raped by Harmesh and another unknown man. A woman filmed the rapes, she had alleged. After a few days, two another unknown men also raped her into room.

On June 1, they left her back at the main Balachaur Chowk, threatening her against disclosing the crime.

A case was registered against the accused under Sections 376 G ( gang rape)  363 (punishment for kidnapping) 365 (abduction with intent to cause that person to be secretly and wrongfully confined) and several other sections of the IPC.

Surprisingly, the police have also failed to get any information about any other accused.

Speaking with HT, investigation officer ASI Mohinder Singh said, “We are doing our best to nab Harmesh Lal, but to no avail. We have started proceedings to declare Lal as a proclaimed offender. Arrest warrants have been issued.”

He added that the woman named and three other accused were yet to be identified.

"Recently, we received information that the accused was in Guwahati (Assam). We sent a police party, but he managed to give us the slip.”
