To facilitate students belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes in availing scholarships, Punjab government has dedicated a web portal that would enable the students to fill the performa online and claim the scholarship by logging in the website

Punjab welfare minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said that a user ID and a password for operating this website would be generated to all the secondary schools/colleges/institutes by National Informatics Centre (NIC). The information regarding this would be disseminated through SMS and e-mails.

He said that after having received the user ID and password schools/colleges/institutes would have to fill the requisite information in institute administration column like profile, bank statement, the courses offered and fee structure. He said that this information must reach by July 2 to the concerned department.

Candidates could apply for scholarship online from July 5, he added.

He further said that Bindu Walia, department’s joint director has been deputed as a nodal officer for the same.

For queries, one could send email to or can dial toll free no. 1800-137-0015, he added.
