State SC Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha inspecting the mid-day meal and the quality of winter uniforms being provided to SC students in a school in Hoshiarpur on Friday.
Punjab State SC Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha paid a surprise visit to a number of schools in the district to check the quality of mid-day meal and ensure that the SC children were getting due government incentives, on Friday.
Commission members Parkash Singh Garhdiwala and Bharti
Kennedy accompanied him. He visited Elementary School Aslamabad, Elementary and High Schools in Nangal Shaheedan, Senior Secondary School Chabbewal, Elementary and High Schools in Shergarh.

He interacted with the students and sought to know if they were getting uniforms, stationery and scholarship. He asked the district education officers to provide winter uniforms to the students who had not yet received the same, without further delay. Later, he organised a meeting with the officials of the education and social welfare department in the PWD rest-house and asked them to pay special attention to SC and poor students.

He said that special efforts should be made to enroll students in government schools. He added that Rs. 3.94 crore had been spent to provide winter uniforms to SC students in government schools of Hoshiarpur district.
