Two booked under Wildlife Act for killing Sambar

The district police have booked two brothers on the charges of killing a Sambar deer, an animal protected under the Wildlife Act, on a complaint filed by the forest block officer.
In his complaint, the forest block officer of Sultanpur Lodhi, Jasvir Singh, has submitted that Jagjeet
Singh and Jaswinder Singh, brothers and residents of village Kothe, near Talwandi Choudhria killed a Sambar by shooting it.

"I was informed by the beat in-charge that some people were following a Sambar in Pammna village. When I reached the spot, I noticed that the bullet-ridden body of the animal was lying in fields owned by Jeet Singh."

Inquires revealed that the deer was killed by  Jagjeet Singh and Jaswinder Singh, he added.
The police have booked both the accused under different sections of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and Arms Act, 1959.
