Claiming to have solved the murder case of Parowal sarpanch Sajjan Singh, the Garhshankar police have arrested one Bhupinder Singh of the same village. Sajjan Singh was found dead in his house on March 6.
Station house officer Jatinder Singh said the accused had confessed to the
murder, which he committed out of anger. “Bhupinder Singh was caught stealing at the village school and was presented before the sarpanch a few days before the incident. The latter had called him on March 5 along with his accomplice but when he did not turn up, the sarpanch reportedly scolded him. The same night, Bhupinder went to the sarpanch's haveli in an inebriated condition and killed him with a hand pump handle,” the SHO claimed.

The incident came to light when the next morning the victim's wife went to wake up the sarpanch. She saw his body in a pool of blood on the floor. The accused roamed around the village freely but during investigation his name cropped up.

Bhupinder was produced in a local court on Monday, which sent him in police remand for two days.
