10 city school principals awarded for contribution to education

A renowned social group, Avantika, organised 'Avantika Priyadarshini Award 2012' at BCM Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 A, Ludhiana, wherein ten lauded principals of distinguished CBSE schools of Ludhiana were awarded for their contribution and achievements in the field of education.


The social group working primarily for the school students has more than 500 centres in every nook and corner of India.

Avantika inter-school solo-dance competition was also organised wherein students from 15 schools showcased mesmerising performances. Drishti of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, bagged the first prize; Japneet Kaur of GNI Public School, Model Town, got the second prize and the third prize was bagged by Priyanka of BVM Kitchlu Nagar.

BCM School principal DP Guleria congratulated the prize winners and highly appreciated the efforts of Anand Aggarwal, director, Avantika Group.

Western disturbances delay wheat arrival in 'mandis'

The increased frequency of western disturbances in the state has delayed the arrival of wheat at 'mandis' this season. The harvesting has been delayed by nearly 15 days and as a result only 8,000 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from 'mandis' of Ludhiana district by the district food and supplies office till now as compared to 8,700 MT wheat during the corresponding period the last season.
