27 cases of dengue confirmed

Twenty-seven cases of dengue were confirmed here on Friday. Of these 13 dengue patients belong to Ludhiana district, while 13 are from other districts of Punjab and one patient belongs to Delhi. The patients are under treatment at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. District
epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said dengue patients belong to Noorwala Road, Focal Point, Kidwai Nagar, Dugri, Sunet, Model Town, Lal Bagh, Civil Lines, Haibowal Kalan and Haibowal Khurd in Ludhiana district.

Dr Verma said four patients were from Hoshiarpur, two from Sangrur, two from Pathankot, one each from Bathinda, Barnala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Ferozepur and Delhi.
He further said reports which came on Friday were of the samples collected during the past six days.

A total of 272 dengue cases were confirmed here this year. Out of these 135 patients were from Ludhiana district.

However, 1,662 dengue cases were confirmed last year in the district.
