The Division Number 1 police initiated investigation after receiving the information. A forensic science team collected fingerprints from the shop. A case of burglary has been registered against unidentified burglars.

In his complaint, Neeraj Gupta, owner of Gupta Studio, said he came to know about the theft in the wee hours of Sunday, after his neighbouring shopkeeper called him. He rushed to the shop and sounded the police.

Gupta said the thieves broke open the shutter of the shop to enter it, and stole all still and video cameras exhibited in the showcase and stored in the shop. He claimed that he incurred a loss of around Rs. 45 lakh in the incident.

Inspector Surinder Mohan, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 1 police station, said the police had initiated investigation and would solve the case soon.
Interestingly, the burgled shop is located in close proximity to the railway station, where the police claim police patrolling is conducted 24 hours.

CCTV cameras were switched off.The shop where the burglars struck was equipped with CCTV cameras, but they were of no help to the police, as they were switched off. The shop owner said a few months ago, the shop had caught fire due to a short circuit in power cables, and in a bid to prevent the incident in future, he had started switching off the CCTV cameras at night.
