late evening, travelled to New Delhi overnight, and would undergo the tests on Thursday.
Coaches and policemen were deputed to accompany the women players.
The move came just three days before the opening ceremony of the Kabaddi World Cup at Bathinda.
Earlier on Wednesday, the district sports department officials were busy making arrangements for the transportation of the women's team during the final selection trials, which were carried out by the members of the World Cup Kabaddi Association.
The men's team was also sent to New Delhi on Tuesday night for the dope tests. The camp for men's team had concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University over a month ago.
The decision was taken despite the norm that a NADA team needs to be called to the venue, where the selection camp, trials and matches are taking place.
"It is just an eyewash to send the players to New Delhi to get dope tests done. Dope tests solve the purpose only when they are conducted randomly at the selection trials or after selection of the team. Players prepared for the tests can take every precaution before appearing for the test," said a coach at the stadium, requesting anonymity.
Sikander Singh Maluka, president, Punjab Kabaddi Association, and member, Technical Committee, World Cup Kabaddi Association, said due to their busy schedule, NADA could not send a team to the city. "We wanted only NADA to carry out the dope tests. Therefore it was decided to send the players to New Delhi," he added.
