Disabled man, accomplice held with 10gm heroin

Continuing its drive against drug peddling, the local police recovered 10gm heroin with the arrest of a disabled man and his aide on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Gurjit Singh and his aide as Sandeep Singh. They were arrested from Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar.

Cops from Merada police post arrested the duo following a tip-off. While 6 gm heroin was recovered from the possession of Sandeep, after investigation the cops nabbed his accomplice, Gurjit, who cannot walk; 4 gm heroin was recovered from his house.

According to police, Gurjit used to supply the narcotics to customers from his house, while Sandeep used to carry out the smuggling.

A case has been registered against the duo under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act at the Sadar police station. The police are investigating who the accused used to source the heroin from.
