Schools have orders to let girls out 10 minutes before boys.
The instruction from director general of school education KS Pannu is meant to protect girls from eve-teasing. Pannu shared this strategy with the media on Sunday during the final day of the National School Games at Punjab
Agricultural University here.

"If boys tease or bully anyone in the school, we'll tell their parents and expel the culprits," said Pannu. "The plan will also protect women teachers."

The DGSE talked about the plan to introduce traditional games such as kho-kho and tug-of-war in all primary schools from the next session. "Elementary teachers will get the sports programme on in schools, as they are trained for the job during the qualifying course," he added.

Besides, the education department will deploy physical training instructors at block levels. The physical education teachers in the middle and secondary schools will give training in primary schools nearby. For schools without playground, space will be arranged.

Teachers will also do kitchen inspection under the midday meal programme. Of late, worms were found in the food served to children in the various government schools of Ludhiana district.
