As expected, India trounced archrivals Pakistan to complete the hatrick. In the men’s final, India defeated Pakistan 59-22 to retain the men’s title of the 3rd Pearls Kabaddi World Cup held at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Saturday.
Indian team maintained their dominance right
from the word go and kept the situation under their control till the end.
India were leading 33-9 at halftime. Pakistan team. who had defeated Canada in the semifinals, struggled to get in to the game, but all their efforts went to the vain as the hosts were too good for them.
Along with the title, Indian men’s pocked Rs. two crore while runners-up pocketed Rs. one crore. While Canada, which finished third got a cheque of Rs. 75 lakh.
In the women's kabaddi final played earlier, Indian eves outplayed Malaysia 72-12 as the visitors failed to tackle the dominant Indian attacks.
In the half time, the hosts were leading with a score line of 42-50. The title made the Indians women richer by Rs. 51 lakh and Malaysian team got a cheque of Rs. 31 lakh. Denmark team that was placed third were handed over a cheque of Rs. 21 lakh. Earlier the bollywood megastar Katrina Kaif and Punjabi singers performed in the cultural extravaganza of the closing ceremony.
8 dope tests taken
National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) agency took eight dope tests of two players each from the four finalist teams including men and women before their finals matches.
