The municipal corporation has issued notices to six shops-cum-offices (SCOs) at Gian Singh Rarewala locality of the city for unauthorised construction.
The notices have been issued after the MC received complaints about the unauthorised constructions and after the high court had ruled
that unauthorised constructions in the locality should be stopped. The ruling was passed on a petition filed by shopkeepers of the same market.
Zone D assistant town planner Rajinder Sharma confirmed this. "We have issued six notices to different buildings at the market, asking them to explain the reason of the construction. We received many complaints after which a decision to send notices was taken," he said.
With the complaints, the MC also received pictures of unauthorised construction at the market, he said, adding that there were some buildings that were issued notices earlier.
"These are the final notices. We will take action if they fail to take corrective measures," Sharma said.
